"C:\Program Files (x86)\Galax圜lient\Games\SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -CPUCount:1 -w -CustomResolution:enabled -r1280x720x32 If the game was installed to C:\Program Files (x86)\Galax圜lient\Games, then the whole Target field should look like this: Right-click on the shortcut, and select Properties. In Properties window, switch to Shortcut tab, and here go to the end of Target field. ![]() ![]() In order to do that navigate to the game's installation folder and find the Launch SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition shortcut, or use the desktop shortcut. God forbid, Steam actually try to promote those posts with real knowledge and suppress the posts of those with misleading or inaccurate information. In case if you are encountering launching issues, we recommend trying to check SimCity 4 Launcher, which you can download from here:Īlternatively we recommend trying to run the game in windowed mode. but with some of the misinformation being shovelled in the faces of people asking for help being so woefully inaccurate, it's hardly surprising that this is the case. The game works, I'm so sick to death of hearing otherwise. So it's not as simple as copy/pasting these commands, each user will have varying requirements. You can't simply say this is a fix, you must change the specified resolution to one that both your hardware and the game can support. ![]() What if someone's display doesn't have that many pixels, adding this command will ensure the game can never start. r1920x1080x32 is great if you have a full HD display, whilst this is very common, not everyone does. Likewise, whilst I generally recommend -f (Full Screen mode), some users may need to use -w (Windowed Mode) instead to get the game to work. For example, do you actually know what -CPUPriority:High does? Nothing, absolutely nothing! Under modern Windows, the game can not parse that setting, verify this by opening the game, switching to task manager and you can see, the priority level is at it's default. Perhaps the problem, is that unknowledgeable, even if well meaning people like yourself, are giving out these 'fixes' as if they are generic and work for everyone. I guess nobody said it in this exact thread, so here. This is how people are avoiding any issues with the game. CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1080x32 -f -CPUCount:1 -intro:off -CPUPriority:High Originally posted by Flotch:Right click on the game in your library, click "Properties", then in the Launch Options bar paste all of this: One exception, the Mac version, which is full of problems. Perhaps your computer wasn't up to the job of playing the game back then?, perhaps you failed to install the patches? Perhaps you were using a multi-core system and hadn't told Windows not to force multi-core use? Who knows, but I can say 100% for certain that it was nothing to do with some different version, there are no different versions of SC4, the code has NEVER been updated. So, if your CD version was unreliable, it wasn't the disks or that identical version behind it. All that has changed, is that the DRM system has been altered, each 'seller' handles this differently, then the two official patches are now included by default. The CD version's code is IDENTICAL to that of the modern digital editions. If anything, it is MORE playable on a modern system, with the updated version!
